Linux OS Support Matrix

Dell has extensive Linux expertise through our dedicated Linux engineering and technical support teams. Note: We acknowledge the wide use of CentOS on Dell systems and understand that it's a community developed derivative of the Dell-supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Support for this OS is available directly from the CentOS communuty at their website here.

Microsoft Server Operating System Support

A complete list of Dell PowerEdge Servers and the Microsoft Server Operating Systems that are supported on them can be found here.

Note: Dell provides varied levels of support for Microsoft Server OS products, as determined by Microsoft's product lifecycle, Dell ProSupport, Dell OpenManage support, and PowerEdge product lifecycles. Below is the complete description of these support levels.

Dell Qualified: Dell™ Engineering has successfully tested and validated the current and immediately preceding released operating system (OS) version on Dell PowerEdge™ Servers. Dell adheres to all published partner test plans to ensure OS compatibility and provides full technical support for the Dell hardware components running on the OS. Dell Qualified systems have OpenManage support.
Note for Windows Customers

Dell Supported: Dell™ Engineering has tested this operating system (OS) version on Dell PowerEdge Servers to ensure OS compatibility. While most OS features work as expected on this platform, some certification tests could not be completed successfully. These findings are documented at Dell.com/ostechsheets. Dell Supported systems may not have OpenManage support. Updated drivers may not be available from Dell for these systems.

Dell Limited: Dell PowerEdge™ Servers support of the operating system (OS) is limited to a virtual environment as a guest OS. Please contact the software vendor for additional support or questions about running the OS in a virtualized environment.
